PRACTICES

Project Finance

Our Project Finance Department is one of the country’s most active, with a client roster including leading national and international companies and financial institutions engaged in the most recent significant project financings.  Our experience ranges from project finance for infrastructure, agribusiness and real estate to natural resources – including renewable energy, oil and gas, mining, and power generation and transmission projects.

We advise creditor banks and project vehicles and their shareholders, providing guidance on regulatory matters at the federal, provincial and municipal levels.  Our experts have in-depth experience structuring complex financial transactions, both national and cross-border.  We provide guidance on public-private partnerships (PPPs), public works and infrastructure concessions, and the zoning, planning and economic regulation of industries and utilities.

Various team members are heads or co-heads of related departments such as banking and financial institutions, capital markets, private equity and public law, ensuring seamless support, and we draw on our full-service strengths to ensure clients receive integrated advice on potentially relevant issues including environment, labor and tax.  Foreseeing potential client requirements for trustee/escrow agent services, Beccar Varela created and owns a trust services company, FyMSA (Fideicomisos & Mandatos S.A.), offering seamless service.

In addition, our team regularly assumes the role of international counsel for regional transactions, acting as lead counsel and coordinating with local counsel in other jurisdictions.  Our superb relations with law firms and clients throughout the region enables us to smoothly support cross-border initiatives and Latin America-wide strategies.

Members of our project finance team have been recognized by Chambers Global and Chambers Latin America, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer 250, LACCA Approved, ILASA, Who’s Who Legal, ILFR 1000 and Client Choice among others.  Many have studied or worked abroad, as well as have experience working as in-house counsel with major financial institutions.
