Manuel Frávega is a partner at Beccar Varela, where he heads the Environmental Law and Climate Change Department and co-leads the ESG Department. He joined the firm in 2022.

His main area of practice is environmental law and climate change. Likewise, he has extensive experience in corporate law, public law, and litigation. Throughout his career, he has managed environmental law departments in global companies focused on the manufacturing, energy, and engineering & construction industries. He also worked in the public sector leading the modernization of environmental management and regulation applicable to a wide variety of industries.

Prior to joining Beccar Varela, Manuel served as Environment Regional Senior Manager for Tenaris (2020-2022), a position in which he provided advice to the company not only on environmental law but also on environmental management (ISO 14000), climate change, sustainability, CSR, training, audits, among others. In the public sector, he served as Undersecretary of Environmental Control and Evaluation of the Provincial Agency for Sustainable Development (Government of the Province of Buenos Aires) (2017-2019). Previously, he worked at Techint Group as a Senior Counsel in charge of the Environmental Law Department (2011-2017) and participated as Vice President of the Environment Commission of the Argentine Industrial Union – UIA (2016-2017). He began his career at the law firm Marval O’Farrell Mairal.

Manuel is a lawyer who graduated from Universidad Católica Argentina (2008). He obtained his Specialization in Environmental Law (2014, with honors) from the same university. He obtained a master’s degree in Business Law from Universidad de San Andrés (2017, with honors), a postgraduate degree in Corporate and Institutional Affairs Management from Universidad Católica Argentina (2019, with honors), and a degree in Circular Economy from UTN – Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (2021). He participated in the D.E.U.F. (Diplôme d’Etudes Universitaires Françaises) university exchange program (France, 2008); and in the postgraduate programs “Summer Session on Environmental Law”, of the American University (USA, 2011) and “Trade and Environment Seminar”, of the Organization of American States, Department of Human Development, Education and Culture (USA, 2012).

He is a member of the World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Officer of the Environment, Health and Safety Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA), the Colegio Público de Abogados de la Capital Federal, the Colegio de Abogados de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, and the Asociación Cristiana de Dirigentes de Empresa (ACDE). Currently, he is the President of the Department of Environment and Sustainability of the Industrial Union of the Province of Buenos Aires (UIPBA).

Manuel is the author of multiple articles related to his specialty; he has participated as a speaker in important seminars and forums on environmental law and climate change, both in Argentina and abroad.
