Mercedes Pando is a senior associate of the firm, having joined Beccar Varela in 2011 when the firm merged with Fortunati & Asociados.
Her practice areas include mergers & acquisitions, competition & antitrust, private equity & venture capital, and mining. She has in-depth experience assisting local and foreign clients of the firm in corporate matters. She provides frequent advice to clients developing businesses in Argentina and takes part actively in merger & acquisition proceedings. In addition, she daily advises clients in merger control and investigation proceedings before the Argentine Competition Commission.
Mercedes received her law degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (2006). She also has postgraduate degrees in Business and Economics from the Universidad Católica Argentina (2008) and antitrust and unfair competition from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (2012) and the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (2011). Prior to joining Beccar Varela, she worked at Fortunati & Associados, Baker & McKenzie and Estudio O´Farrell.
She has also broad experience in Spanish and European Law. She obtained her Legal Sciences LLM from the University Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain (2010) and the recognition of her Law Degree by the Spanish Government in 2014. She also worked as foreign associate at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo Abogados SLP (Barcelona, Spain, 2015) in corporate and antitrust practice areas.
She is a member of the Buenos Aires Bar Association and the International Bar Association. She is also a member of the supervisory board of Microjusticia Argentina Foundation since 2011.
