Competition & Antitrust

Building a solid team with a long-term strategy has positioned Beccar Varela’s Competition and Antitrust Department as a recognized leader in Argentina.

Our consistent focus on service excellence and innovation, coupled with our seamless work with the firm’s White Collar & Corporate Crime and Compliance departments, allows us to offer a service with unique characteristics in the market.

Our solid relationships with law firms throughout Latin America allow us to lead on cross-border transactions and investigations.

Clients especially value our team for our intervention and response capacity in complex cases as well for maintaining a low profile. Over the last ten years, we have participated in the most significant investigations carried out by the Argentine National Competition Commission, including three of the most important in its history (in the cement, automotive and banking, and credit card industries). We have also been involved in over 150 concentration operations and helped to create leading cases across various industries in various areas of competition law.

We regularly advise national and multinational companies on the design of their business and commercial strategies and in the development and modernization of their competition and antitrust compliance and training programs. In the last three years, our department has counseled major technology companies in industries such as pharmaceuticals and electronics, and the leading platforms in the online payments market, tourism services, social media, and e-commerce marketplaces.

Recent competition and antitrust cases and filings cover all industries, including banking, credit cards, insurance, food, apparel, personal care products, cleaning products, pharmaceuticals, steel, mining, oil & gas, cement and construction supplies, agribusiness and agrochemicals, hotels, tourism, car rental, aeronautics, automotive and auto parts, appliances, electronics, open television services and cable, audiovisual content, telecommunications, infrastructure, investment funds, shipping, and logistics.

Members of our competition team have been recognized by Chambers Global and Chambers Latin America, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer 250, ILASA and Who’s Who Legal, among others. Various members of our team have studied or worked abroad.
