Alejandro Poletto is a partner at Beccar Varela. He joined the firm in 2010, following its merger with Fortunati & Asociados.

His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, mining, corporate law, project finance, and oil and gas.

Alejandro regularly leads complex international and domestic M&A transactions, representing buyers, sellers, and financial advisors, with a particular emphasis on the mining sector. His experience also includes initial public offerings, domestic and international bond issuances, securitizations through financial trusts, structured finance, and other sophisticated financial transactions.

He co-heads the firm’s Mining Department and has advised on numerous transactions in the oil and gas industry.

Alejandro holds a Law degree from Universidad Católica Argentina (1998) and an LL.M. from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York (2002). He also completed postgraduate programs in Capital Markets at Universidad Católica Argentina (2003) and in Oil and Gas at Universidad de Buenos Aires (2014).

Prior to joining Beccar Varela, Alejandro was a partner at Fortunati & Asociados, and previously practiced at Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal and Cárdenas Cassagne. He also worked as a foreign associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP (New York, USA, 2006-2007).

Alejandro has authored several publications, including contributions to Practical Law – Investment Funds Global Guide and Practical Law – Structured Finance and Securitisation in Argentina (Thomson Reuters).

He is a member of the Buenos Aires Bar Association, the International Bar Association (IBA) and the American Bar Association (ABA).

Alejandro has been recognized by Chambers Latin America, The Legal 500, IFLR 1000, Latin Lawyer 250, LACCA Approved and Leaders League.

He speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese.
