TMT (Telecoms, Media & Technology) Department report | ENACOM Resolution No. 927/2020: elimination of international roaming charges between Argentina and Chile
Dear Sir or Madam,
Through Resolution No. 927/2020 of the National Telecom Regulatory Entity (ENACOM) (the “Resolution”), published in the Official Gazette on August 31, 2020, the charge for international roaming between Argentina and Chile was eliminated. Accordingly, the use of a mobile telephone network (voice, messaging, and mobile data services) will be billed at the local price when crossing the borders of both countries.
In this connection, the Resolution established that the identification will be made through the SIM card, through which the user can connect with an operator of another network by paying the price of their country, that is, the cost of calls and consumption data will not incur extra charges. Likewise, users will have a period of 90 consecutive days or 120 discontinuous days in the same year to use said benefit.
Finally, the Resolution forced the operators that provide the service to users who are in the neighboring country, to ensure the same quality of service and coverage as their national users.
