International Trade and Customs Department report | New antidumping investigation on metric tapes.

On March 3rd 2020, the Secretariat of Industry, Knowledge Economy and Foreign Trade Administration issued Resolution No. 23/2020 whereby it decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation intended to determine whether the exports of “metric tapes, except those types used in tailoring and non-metallic ones, of the types used for anatomical measurements” (tariff code 9017.80.10) from the Republic of India to Argentina, are being performed under dumping conditions and causing or threatening to cause material injury to domestic industry. The national company that requested the initiation of this antidumping procedure is MEDICIONES EVEL S.A.

In order to initiate this investigation, the National Commission of International Trade determined that the Indian exports were performed under a dumping margin (i.e., difference between the sale price in the Indian domestic market vs. the FOB export price) of 327,77%.

In addition, the National Commission of International Trade concluded that the Argentine industry of the product under investigation would be injured by the Indian exports.

All those exporters who are interested in participating in this procedure, have thirty (30) extendable days to complete and file the questionnaires and documents that will allow them to be considered as a party to the antidumping proceeding.
