International Trade and Customs Department report | Antidumping investigation in Argentina: sunset review procedure against the imports of electric irons

On 17 April 2020, the Argentine Ministry of Productive Development issued Resolution No. 171/2020 whereby it decided to initiate a sunset review procedure of the antidumping duties that had been imposed in 2015 against the imports of electric irons excluding the irons that are connected by pipes to an external steam generator (tariff code 8516.40.00), originating in the People’s Republic of China. The investigation was initiated at the request of the CHAMBER OF MANUFACTURERS OF FANS, STOVES, PLATES AND RELATED PRODUCTS and of the local firms AXEL S.A., GOLDMUND S.A. Y METALÚRGICA CRIVEL S.C.

The antidumping duties currently in force that are being subject to review consist of the following specific import duties:

• Non-steam electric irons: USD 13.22 per unit;
• Steam electric irons: USD 15.41 per unit.

Through Resolution No. 171/2020, the Ministry of Productive Development decided to examine whether the expiry of the duties would be likely to lead to the persistence of the alleged dumping margin and of the injury to the domestic industry of electric irons.

All those exporters who are interested in participating in this procedure must complete and file the questionnaires and documents that will allow them to be considered as a party to the sunset review procedure.
