On January 15, 2025, Decree No. 28/2025 issued by the National Executive Branch was published in the Official Gazette. This decree establishes that within a period of twelve (12) months, the sections and routes that make up the National Road Network will be tendered under the regulation of the Public Work Law Concession No. 17,520, to grant toll concessions for the construction, operation, administration, repair, expansion, conservation, maintenance, and provision of services to users, as well as for the development of complementary or collateral operations aimed at generating additional income.
The Ministry of Economy, through the Secretary of Transportation, will have the following faculties:
a) Modify the composition of the sections of the National Road Network to be tendered. b) Call for National and International Public Bidding.
c) Issue the administrative act of award and sign the respective contracts.
Likewise, the National Directorate of Roads (from the Spanish Dirección Nacional de Vialidad) will act as the Compliance Authority for existing road concession contracts and those to be granted in the future, exercising supervision and control over them.
