Environmental Law Department report | OPDS Resolutions No. 252/2020 and No.246/2020: Attention to the public – pathogenic waste

Dear Sir or Madam,

Through Resolution No. 252/2020, the Executive Board of the Provincial Agency for Sustainable Development of the province of Buenos Aires (OPDS) resolved to extend the limitation of face-to-face attention to the public until August 2, 2020. This limitation was initially established by Resolution No. 170/2020 OPDS and extended by resolutions No. 183/2020, 190/2020, 199/2020, 207/2020, 220/2020, 227/2020 and 241/2020 (see our circular dated May 20, 2020), which established the limitation to urgent cases of face-to-face attention (the resolutions do not clarify which the urgent cases are).

On the other hand, through Resolution No. 246/2020, exceptional procedures were approved for obtaining precarious permits for new pathogenic waste treatment centers and for the incorporation of new units in existing centers, in the context of Decree No. 251/2020 of the Province of Buenos Aires and the health emergency. Also, the resolution establishes that while the face-to-face limitation to the public in the OPDS dependencies lasts, these procedures must be carried out digitally, to the email of the agency’s table of entrances ([email protected]).

Resolutions No.252/2020 and 246/2020 were published in the Official Gazette on July 30, 2020.

Do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further information on this matter.

Sincerely,

Angeles Murgier
