Passing of Dr. Alberto Lasheras Shine (02.13.1950 – 02.06.2011).
It is with great sorrow that Estudio Beccar Varela announces the passing of Dr. Alberto Lasheras Shine, which occurred on February 6th, 2011.
Dr. Lasheras Shine joined Beccar Varela in 1970 to develop an internship at the library, where several of the most prominent lawyers of the firm have started their career. He obtained his law degree from Universidad de Belgrano in 1976; he became a partner with the firm in 1979.
He focused his career on the areas of M&A, Corporate Law, and International Trade. During the period 1982-1983, he worked as a foreign associate at Shearman & Sterling in New York. It was an unforgettable experience, not only professionally, but as a life-enriching experience.
Possessing an outgoing personality, it did not take long for him to discover his great ability to forge relationships and his interest in giving his career an international focus. He was well known by many in the community for his gracious demeanor, terrific sense of humor, and genuine personality. These qualities made him a sort of ambassador of both the firm and Argentina. During the last years of his career, he served notably as Co-Chair of the Section of Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions of the International Bar Association, as President Emeritus of the World Services Group, and as a member of the Board of the International Network of Boutique Law Firms (INBLF).
