On March 31, 2020 the Official Gazette published in the evening the Decree No. 329/2020 that forbids dismissals without cause and dismissals and suspensions due to lack of work or lowering of work and force majeure. The measure is in force for a term of sixty days as of 31/03/2020.
The suspensions in terms of section 223 bis of the Employment Contract Law are exempted from this prohibition, that is to say, the individual or collectively agreed suspensions or the suspensions approved by the enforcement authority.
The dismissals and suspensions that violate what was set forth in Decree No. 329 shall not come into effect and the existing employment relationships and their current conditions shall remain in force.
